So surreal and yet so crisp and vivid!

What can I honestly say, except that everything about this photo is incredibly astounding!

Excellent composition and that cloud formation is a lucky catch. Do you know of any links of deviations that can teach me how to get the blue skies or general raw infrared processing?

Thank you! Yeah, I was excited when I saw these clouds! It was the first day of spring that year where it wasn't overcast. :) And you know what, I just realized this photo was taken 3 years ago today! :) This tutorial is pretty good: [link] If that isn't what you're looking for though, let me know! Keep in mind that getting the white balance right while shooting IR is very important even when you do post processing to it later!

Great thank you very much.

The camera I'm using now is my first dslr so its opened up a whole new world of photography for me. With respect to raw processing I'm getting better but its still a little foreign. I've always been pretty handy with photoshop but adjustment layers and some emulations of traditional photography processing differ from working with such a powerful tool such as raw

Pulling out some white paper with make sure my white balance is correct before I got out :woot:

You're very welcome!

Honestly I'm still quite new with working with Camera RAW and photoshop, haha. I have much to learn myself! It seems like there is always something more to learn about photography and processing both!

Woo! Yeah, the mistake I made the first time I tried IR was using the white sheet of paper with manual WB mode BEFORE I put the R72 IR filter on, so it didn't really do me much good, haha. So don't make that mistake like I did!

I haven't been doing any white balance with my infrared yet, am I suppose to WB after I put the filter on then?

Yeah, manually adjust the WB using the white sheet of paper (or any green objects such as leaves or grass) while you have the IR filter on. Make sure you focus without the filter on, as you can't see anything with it on. Switch your camera/lens to AF after that while you put on the filter, so you don't lose that focus since it usually locks the focus there when AF is on. Just make sure you turn the AF switches back off before you shoot. :P
